Harriet Washington Golden, 97, a native of Assumption Parish and resident of Thibodaux, La. died Tuesday, December 18, 2007.

She is survived by one daughter, Lula Mae Golden; seven grandchildren, Federal Barkins, Marsha Golden Francis, Don Golden, Donna Golden Dyer, Mark Golden, Des Philip Williams and Elderick Philip; one daughter-in-law, Adell Golden; thirteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Golden, Sr.; her parents, Whitaker and Ida Washington; two sons, Luther Golden, Jr., and Van V. Cheatam; one daughter, Hester Golden Philip; two brothers, Ralph and Frank Washington; and great-grandchild, Ariel N. Profit.

Harriet was a devout Baptist and a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church. She served on the Deaconess Board for over Sixty years. She also served as President of Pastor’s Aid Ministry and served as mother of the church.

Visitation is Saturday, December 22, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral to follow at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Labadieville, La. She will be buried in the church cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
