Hazel Ann Blanchard Acosta, 63, a native of Chauvin, La. and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, October 19, 2007, at 1:06 p.m.


She is survived by six sons, Russell Acosta, Lacy Acosta Sr. and his wife Patrina, Thomas Acosta and his wife Kristin, Perry Acosta, Byron Acosta, and Travis Acosta; two daughters, Phyllis Acosta Poiencot and her husband Guy and Crystal Acosta Landry and her husband Kyle; two brothers, Minus Blanchard and his wife Patricia and Mannuel Blanchard, Sr. and his wife Karen; two sisters, Martha Blanchard Savoie and Hilda Blanchard Didier and her husband Steve; and eight grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Acosta, Sr.; her parents, Preston G. and Hilda Dumont Blanchard; one son, Raymond Acosta, Jr.; one brother, Terry J. Blanchard; and one sister, Evelyn Blanchard.

Hazel was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Visitation is Tuesday, October 23, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Holy Rosary Church. She will be buried in the church cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
