Helen A. Polk, 69, a native of Alabama and resident of Amelia, La., died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013.

Mrs. Polk was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to travel to many different places but her favorite was to Europe with her husband. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Capt. Charles Polk; sons, Timothy (Ruthie) and Aaron (Gina) Polk; daughter, Cheryl (William) Trimmer; brothers, Andy (Jackie) and Cletus Harris; sisters, Marie Stevens, Elaine McGill and Ivanell (Lonnie) Mann; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Medie Henley; sister, Ozell Taylor; and brothers, Bill and Clovis Harris.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Twin City Funeral Home and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, Ill., with services to follow. Burial will be at Miners Cemetery in Royalton, Ill. (Twin City)
