Helen Authement Naquin, 87, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Saturday, June 7, at 4:15 p.m.

She is survived by her sons, Russell Naquin and wife Pierette of Chauvin, and Richard Naquin and wife Rose Marie of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Raily Carlton and husband Clay of Larose, La., Nell Lafont and husband Vorries of Chauvin, and Helen Mary Zeringue of Theriot, La.; brothers, Loney Foret, O’Neal Foret, Leroy Foret and Gerris Foret; sisters, Eula Foret, Noticia Authement Bunker and Beatrice Foret Gisclair; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Naquin; great-grandson, Jerry Orgeron III; parents, Sidney Authement and Josephine Blanchard Foret; brothers, Clarence Authement, Lawrence Authement, Eulan Foret, Harold Foret and Gervis Foret; sisters, Helena Authement Forrest, Dorita Foret Pierron, Odelia Foret Sevin, Florence Foret Chauvin and Ouida Foret LeCompte; and sons-in-law, Ernest “Bud” Zeringue and Jerry Orgeron Sr.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, June 9, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. She will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chauvin.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
