Henry James Leonard, 45, a native of Choctaw, La., and a resident of Choupic, La., died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010.


A Christian, Mr. Leonard often shared his Christian music in the neighborhood. Humor was his greatest characteristic; he was famous for pulling practical jokes. Referred to by many as “Uncle” Henry, he loved zoo animals and his cats, dogs and goat.

He is survived by his wife, Joann Peltier Leonard; son, Jacob Pennison; mother, Ela Mae Legendre Leonard; sisters, June Reulet and Judy Dupre; brother, Steven Leonard; godchild, Sarah Duet; in-laws, Davis and Josephine Peltier; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his father, Noel Leonard; brother, Charlie Leonard; grandparents, Victor and Eurline Robinson Legendre, and Walter and Zoe Lasseigne Leonard.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the House of Prayers in Thibodaux.

Mr. Leonard will be buried at OLPS Cemetery in Chackbay.
