Henry “C.J.” Owens, 63, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died in Thibodaux Saturday, September 29, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Eliska Jane Williams Owens; one daughter, Lanetta Owens Duplantis; one son-in-law, Wilton Duplantis Jr.; one granddaughter, N’Dia Duplantis; one brother, Millage Owens, Sr.; three sisters, Alma Douglas, Carolyn Owens, and Vera Oliver and her husband Alton; two godsons, John Lewis and Terrance Johnson; and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elvina Shanklin Owens, Sr.; five brothers; and three sisters.
Henry was a devoted husband to his wife Eliska for 41 years. He was a member of Houma Christian Center where he served as the praise team leader. He was a devoted Saints fan.
Visitation is Friday, October 5, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a celebration of life and wake service to follow, with the funeral to be held Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Allen Chapel AME Church in Thibodaux. He will be buried in the church cemetery.
