Hillman J. Labat, 91, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died at 11:35 p.m., Wednesday, July 2.


He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Eula Uzee Labat; one son, Reggie Labat and wife, Kathy; one daughter, Marlene L. Fabacher and husband, Fred; one brother, Curren Labat; two sisters, Dorothy Moore and Allie Daniels; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hillman A. and Adele Sevin Labat; three brothers, Dudley Labat, George Labat and Stanley Labat; and one sister, Ena Touchard.


He was a member of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus; a charter member and past president of Raceland Lions Club; and an organist at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lion’s Eye Foundation.

Visitation will 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, July 07, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
