August 22, 2011Howard “Cees Pous” Sampey, 83, a native of Lockport, La., and resident of Raceland, La., died at 12:47 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011.
Mr. Sampey retired from Raceland Sugars and was an avid fisherman. His family was his life. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elrita Sampey; daughter, Brenda Hunter; brothers, Frederick and Michael Sampey; sisters, Delta Monier and Yvonne Mims; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Maude Sampey.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
