Hymel “Sarge” Joseph Henry, 79, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014.
Mr. Henry was a pipeline welder with McDermott for more than 30 years. He was a deputy with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s office and a member of the Bayou Blue Lions Club and East Park Volunteer Fire Department. He was active in the Marine Corp League, the United Veterans League and the Regional Military Museum. He honorably served in the Korean War and continued to be a Marine to the end.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Henry; daughters, Joni (Keith) Bullen and Kelly-Jean and Kathleen Henry; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine and Yvonne Hebert; and brothers, Russell Henry and Alton Hebert.
Interment is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
