Ira James Grow Sr., 84, a native and resident of Morgan City, La., died Thursday, May 23, 2013.
Mr. Grow was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a U.S. Navy seaman who traveled the world to serve his country. He was a boat captain and crane operator/tool pusher for Kerr-McGee/Transworld Drilling. After retirement he spent many days with his family and friends fishing, crabbing and enjoying the outdoors. Anytime anyone needed help or something fixed they could always depend on him.
He is survived by his wife, Cecile Grow; daughter, Cheryl Carpenter; sons, Ira Jr. and Terry Sr. (Theresa) Grow; sisters, Vada Breaux and Golden Mickler; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Levie Grow; brothers, Edison Sr., Wilbur and Gordon Grow; son, Gary Grow; and one grandchild. (Twin City)
