Irvin Joseph Babin, 82, a native and resident of Houma, La. died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 4:50 p.m.


He is survived by his wife, Cecile Shirley Lasseigne Babin; one son, Morris Babin and his wife Phyllis; four daughters, Sue Ordoyne and her husband Autrey; Linda Billiot and her husband Dave, Patricia Triche and her husband Jesse, and Donna Fonseca and her husband Peter; one brother, James Babin; four sisters, Hilma Marcel, Dolores Brien, Wilma Golden, and Diane Robichaux; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Dule and Bernice Thibodaux Babin; one son, Larry Babin; two grandchildren, Dianna LeBoeuf and Leslee Billiot; six brothers, Maurice, Hyrman, Ernest, Wilbert, Jesse, and Dexter Babin; and four sisters, Hilda, Della, Marie, and Bernice.

Irvin was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Houma. He was a member of the St. Francis Knights of Columbus Council 1317 and a past Grand Knight. He was the former commander of the VFW Post No. 3700, an Allstate Commander for two years in a row, a Mason, a member of the American Legion Post 31. He was very active in community affairs.

Visitation is Friday, October 19, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma and Saturday, October 20, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral to follow at St. Gregory Catholic Church. He will be buried in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
