Irvin Joseph Duplantis, 91, a native of Grand Caillou, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016.


Mr. Duplantis was an avid gardener. He was the oldest living charter member of VFW Post 4752 and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Duplantis was very proud to be a Guard of Honor to President Truman when they signed the peace treaty in Germany during World War II. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Mr. Duplantis is survived by his wife, Drusella Duplantis; son, Eric (Paula) Duplantis; daughters, Vera (Vincent) Chaisson, Debra (Wayne) Winstead and Maureen (Larry) Lirette; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Duplantis; sister, Rita Dupre; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Burial is at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery. Contributions in Mr. Duplantis’ memory to the charity or organization of one’s choice are appreciated.
