Isaac Baker, 87, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, March 11.

He is survived by his sons, Isaac Stewart, Gerald Martin Smith Jr., both of Houma, Junior “Billy” Williams and Julius Williams; daughter, Joyce Marie Bradley of Houma; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Dunbar Baker; his parents, Savannah Henderson Baker and Sam Baker Sr.; daughter, Mary Agnes McKay; brothers, Sam Jr., Sterling, Hector, Harry, Nolan and Elijah Baker; and sisters, Alma Baker Walker and Lizzie Baker.

He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a retired construction laborer and a member of First Corinthian Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at First Corinthian Baptist Church. Services will follow with full military honors. He will be buried at Southdown Cemetery.

Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
