Isaac Brown, Sr., 77, a native of Schriever, La., and a resident of Gray, La., died Sunday, May 18.


He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rose Mary Street Brown; sons, Isaac (Mary) Brown, Jr. of Monroe, La., and Leonard and Michael Brown of Gray; daughters, Belinda Brown of Gray, and Dr. Christy Brown of Lafayette, La.; brother, James (Laura) Brown, Jr. of Schriever; and three grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James Brown, Sr. and Alma Prevost Brown; daughter, Cassandra K. Brown-Lomax; brothers, Rev. Junius Brown, Sr., and Joseph Brown, Sr.; sisters, Ruth Livas and Rebecca Brown; and grandparents, Joseph & Izona M. Brown and Frank & Rosie T. Prevost.

He was Baptist and a member of New Magnolia Baptist Church in Schriever. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and he served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Terrebonne Parish Chapter NAACP. He enjoyed gardening and riding his bicycle throughout the neighborhood. He was a construction worker and employed for many years by Quality Chevrolet.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Community Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at New Magnolia Baptist Church. He will be buried at Halfway Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
