James “Jim” Akins, 54, a resident of Chauvin, La., and a native of New Orleans, La., died Monday, January 14, 2008.
He is survived by his mother, Lora Watson Carlin; one son, James E. Akins; one daughter, Kelli Akins; two brothers, David and Kenny Akins; and two sisters, Phyllis Skinner and Rose Akins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cleatus Akins.
Visitation is Friday, January 18, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, La., with a memorial service to follow. Burial will be by cremation.
Samart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
