James Arthur Hunt, 86, a native of Latimer County, Ok., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, May 24.


He is survived by his wife, Osa Lula Bennett Hunt of Houma; sons, James Ronald Hunt and wife, Brenda, and Bruce Loren Hunt and wife, Tammy, of Houma; brothers, Warren Arthur Hunt and wife, Sadie, of Houston, Tx., and Paul Hunt of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Krista Savoie, Sean Chauvin, Meghan Whitten and Jaimee Bonvillain; and great-grandchildren, Kameron Savoie, Cort Chauvin, Ava Chauvin, Alexis Whitten, Taylor Bonvillain, Christopher Bonvillain Jr. and James Bonvillain.


He is preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur Hunt Sr. and Elizabeth Gallagher Hunt; and sister, Bernise H. Cummings.

He was a retired pumper and core analysis lab for Texaco. He was a parishioner and deacon at Mulberry Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, a past member and president of the Parent Teachers Association at Oaklawn, and advancement committee chairman of the Boy Scouts (Oil District). He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Chauvin Funeral Home’s Chapel with a religious service to follow. He will be buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
