James Alfred “Peanut” Crochet Sr., 79, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 11:36 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2007.


Visitation will be from 2:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Falgout Funeral Home chapel and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Anthony Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Bayou Black Mausoleum.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Emily Trahan Crochet; three sons, James Alfred Jr., Kevin Francis and wife, Melanie, and Robert Paul Crochet; two daughters, Elizabeth Odile and husband, James. Michael Fontenot and Emily Ann Hebert; two brothers, Edward and Charles Crochet; one sister, Marquerite Giroir; nine grandchildren, Theron, Tess, Robert Jr. and Shelby Crochet, Jeremy and Jenifer Fontenot, Austin and Amber Hebert and Ricky Herndon; and one great-grandson, Pierson Faulkner.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Viltres and Anna Lee Bergeron Crochet; two brothers, Paul and Harold Crochet; and two sisters, Rita Martin and Rosemary Bergeron.

He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church. He worked for Texaco for 37 years.

He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of World War II. He belonged to the American Legion, Knights of Columbus Council No. 9338, St. Anthony Altar Society and Texaco Retirees Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus Council No. 9338.

Falgout Funeral Home is charge of the arrangements.
