La. House panel OKs abolishment of insurance rating commission

James “Moosie” Gory III, 83, a native of Greenwood, Miss., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2007.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux. Mass will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Fournet Gory; one son, James M. Gory IV and wife, Tina; two daughters, Nancie G. Johnston and husband, David, and Virginia Gory; one sister, Sarah McAdoo; and two grandchildren, Olivia Nunnally and Jason Gory.
He was a World War II veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was retired with more than 30 years as band director of his beloved “Tiger Band from Bayouland” and a longtime insurance agent in the Thibodaux area.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a Music or Fine Arts program in the area.
Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
