James “Jim” Taylor Folse, 72, a native and resident of Lockport, La., was entrusted to God’s loving care at 9:41 a.m. Friday, October 17.

He is survived by one son, Jacques Folse and wife Rhonda of Raceland, La.; one daughter, Cynthia Folse Mire and husband John of Lockport; two brothers, Robert and Betty Folse of Lockport and Eugene and Audrey Folse of Raceland; and four grandchildren, Joseph Folse, Megan Mire, Philip Mire and Tabitha Mire.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith “Poochie” Jones Folse; and his parents, Adolph Folse and Jeanne Toups Folse.


He was a Christian who proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a “Frog-man” on an underwater demolition team. After his Navy service, he owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Lockport. The store later became known as the hardware store. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying with friends and family.

He was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church. He graduated Holy Savior Catholic High School and Spencer Business College of New Orleans, La. He was a member of the Lockport Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Bayou Chapter, P.O. Box 405, Thibodaux, La. 70302, or Holy Savior Catholic School, 612 Main St., Lockport, La. 70374.

Memorial visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, November 15, at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport with a memorial mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
