James VanBuren, 79, a native and resident of Houma, La., died in an accident Thursday, March 13.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Community Funeral Home. He will be buried at Halfway Cemetery.
He is survived by his sons, James VanBuren, Jr., Andrew Nixon and Girard Nixon; brothers, Raymond, Antione, Roland and Johnell VanBuren; sisters, Lubirda Myles and Geraldine Theriot; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Lyons VanBuren; parents, Izeal and Julia Helena VanBuren; brother, Izeal VanBuren, Jr.; and sisters, Viola Johnson, Verilina VanBuren, Izetta VanBuren and Julia VanBuren LaGarde.
He was Baptist and enjoyed gardening.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
