Jerry Adolph Landry, 85, a native of Pharr Island, La., and resident of Berwick, La., died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011.

Mr. Landry was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II. He fought in Okinawa, Japan receiving a Purple Heart for injuries he received. He was a long-time boat and port captain who loved being outdoors.


He is survived by his sons, Steve (Annette) and Glynn (Mary) Landry; daughters, Jerri (David) Chesteen, Brenda (Rickey) LaMartiniere and Rexine Squires; sister, Barbara Clark; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Ella Landry; son, Reginald Landry; and brothers, Earl, James and Irvin Landry.

Interment was at Berwick Mausoleum with military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. (Twin City)
