Jerry J. Acosta Sr., 79, a native of Morgan City, La., and resident of Stephensville, La., died Monday, March 5, 2012.
Mr. Acosta was a shrimper for 61 years and was the owner of the Lucky Strike and the White Gold vessels. He was a simple man and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, LeeAnn Acosta; children, Jennifer (Mark Sr.) Blanchard, Jerry Jr. (Dee), Anthony, Danny (Marcie) and William (Angie) Acosta, Gail (Keith) Freeman, Judith (Ranney Sr.) Suttoon, Suzette (Leo) Gilmore and Jerry Wiggins; sisters, Alene Bertrand, Gertrude Prestenbach and Diane Solieau; brothers, Lenard and Wilson Acosta; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Aline Acosta; sister, Doris Brenson; and brother, Jernius Acosta.
Burial was at Morgan City Cemetery. (Twin City)
