Jewel Smith Songe, 84, a native of Mart, Tx., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, March 1, at 1:56 a.m.


She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Songe Cunningham and husband Steve Cunningham of Bourg, La.; brother, Kenneth Smith of Fort Worth, Tx.; sister, Dot Brenner of Fort Worth; grandchild, Brandon Cunningham and wife Lynette Cunningham; and great-grandchildren, Trey Coy Cunningham and Braelyn Janae Cunningham.


She was preceded in death by her husband E.J. Songe; parents, Walter Vernon and Stella Eula Holder Smith; brother, O.W. Smith; and sisters, Louise Scoggins, Mae Breed Love and Mildred Collier.

She was a cosmetologist, a property manager and a member of Jehovah’s Witness for 67 years.

A memorial service was Sunday, March 8, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
