Jimmy N. Doucet Sr., 83, a native of Galliano, La., and a resident of Cut Off, La., entered into eternal rest to be with the Lord and his past loved ones Wednesday, October 22.


He leaves to cherish his generous spirit, his devoted wife of 59 years, Emildred Chouest Doucet; four children, Jimmy N. Doucet Jr. and wife Louella Matherne Doucet, Monita D. Gisclair and husband Glenn, Randy Doucet Sr. and wife Linda Gail Allemand Doucet, and Linda C. Doucet and husband Shannon Sr.; 12 grandchildren, Chad Doucet, Dawn D. Theriot, Katrina G. Fagan, Bryan Gisclair, Jason Gisclair, Michelle Griffin, Randy Doucet Jr., Erica D. Theriot, Marcy Doucet, Shannon Doucet Jr., Jordy Doucet and Lesely D. Rios; 18 great-grandchildren, Braden, Breanne, Caleb and Trey Doucet, Carter Theriot, Kristin and Grady Fagan, Audie Pitre, Claire Griffin, Olivia, Luke and Ana Doucet, Jordan and Justin Doucet, Alec, Drew, Riley and Reese Rios; and one brother, Antoine Doucet.


He was preceded in death by one son, Mark A. Doucet; his parents, Edville and Sedonia Vegas Doucet; one granddaughter, Angela C. Doucet; five brothers, Sweetsie, Eads, Mike, Roy and Harris Doucet; and three sisters, Lorada D. Danos, Beulah D. Kiff and Jeanne D. Kiffe.

He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, recipient of the Bronze Star and a DAV of Foreign Wars. He was a lifetime member of the Larose VFW Post No. 8538, American Legion Post No. 315 and the Green Head Club. His love, laughter and never-ending generosity to all those around him will endure in our hearts forever. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was buried at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of the arrangements.
