Joel Paul Bergeron, 72, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 3 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011.


Mr. Bergeron was a member of the Adrienne J. Caillouet Assembly Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree knight; he was also a member of the Italian American Society. He helped raise his brothers while growing up, and was a loving uncle and brother. He graduated from Saint Francis de Sales High School in 1958 and worked for the Bank of Terrebonne for over thirty years. He was currently the Sexton at Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral, a job he held for over 10 years. He was a parishioner of Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral and was truly devoted to God.


He is survived by his brothers, David, Carol (Carol) and Reverend Father C. Paul Bergeron; aunt, Violet Smith; nieces and nephews, Travis (Amy), Jason (Richelle), Trever (Janet) and Scott Bergeron, Tammy (Scott) Price and Jill (Ronn) Parfait; great-nieces and nephews, Tandi and Scott Jr. Price, Layla, Jason Jr., Jenna, Bryson, Makayla and Anthony Bergeron, and Kaylee, Koby and Kollin Parfait.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Paul Bergeron; mother, Leola Marie Lirette Bergeron; and sister-in-law, Hedy Patricia Bergeron.

He is buried at Saint Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
