John “Johnny” Frederick Hoffmann, 80, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010.


Mr. Hoffmann was a retired civil engineer at Nicholls State University. He enjoyed cooking, and singing in a barber shop quartet, the “Tune Aces,” as well as 50 years with the St. Joseph Church choir. He relished the opportunity to entertain others as Cajun humorist “Uncle Noon.” His life was blessed and enriched by the love of family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mollie Rollins Hoffmann; sons, Lee (Datchanee) Hoffmann and Stuart (Shawna) Hoffmann; daughter, Janice (William) Shearer; niece, Angela Gray Crighton; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one stepson, Keith Lirette; stepdaughters, Mollie Borne, Pamela Gyan and Lyndel Ordoyne; and seven stepgrandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Camille and Marguerite Hoffmann; and one sister, Marguerite Hoffmann Norris.

He is buried at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral Cemetery.
