John “Johnny” Adolph Achee Sr., 48, a native of Baton Rouge, La., and a resident of Labadieville, La., died Saturday, November 1.


He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Simoneaux Achee; two sons, John A. Achee Jr. and Gregory Paul Achee and wife Casey; one daughter, Dollie Ann Bimah and husband Terrence; four brothers, Joseph L. Achee Jr. and wife Cheryl, Robert C. Achee, Phillip Achee and Daniel Achee and wife Tracie; two sisters, Paulette A. Carline and husband Wayne, and Vivian A. Solar and husband Robbie; four stepchildren, Jenny Watts, Ben Watts and wife Heather, Renee W. Freeman and husband John, and Drew Watts; and six grandchildren, Trey Achee, Chloe Acosta, Aubrey Kiggins, Zoey Achee, Dylan Bimah and Marissa Watts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Achee Sr. and Patricia Triche Achee.


He was a retired employee of Triad Chemical with 23 years of service as well as safety coordinator at Raceland Raw Sugars. He was a first string all-district running back for Assumption High in 1976-77. He coached league baseball, softball, football and basketball. He enjoyed golf, spending time at his camp, watching football and spending time with his family and friends. He passionately researched socio-environmental issues and hoped to improve the community he loved. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, at Landry’s Funeral Home in Labadieville and 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville with mass to follow.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
