John “Johnny” Ernest Foolkes, 86, a native of Reserve, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, April 1, at 5:35 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Robicheaux Foolkes of Houma; daughters, Dawn Harper and husband, Tom, of Salado, Tx., and Johnnie Jo “Jody” Blanchard and husband, Carey, of Lewisville, Tx.; sisters, Helena Word of Austin, Tx., and May LeBoeuf of Houma; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund John Foolkes and Blanche Chauvin Foolkes; stepson, Gerry Hicks; and sisters, Marie Hamilton and Blanche Herron.
He was a retired radio communication specialist with Hamilton Radio and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was the first King with the Krewe of Houmas. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Chauvin Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at the funeral home chapel. He will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.
