John Joseph Haydel, 91, a native of Glencoe, La., and resident of Franklin, La., died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011.


Mr. Haydel was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan. He graduated from Hanson Memorial High School and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in History from SLI (now ULL). He was later employed as a radio dispatcher by the Louisiana State Police Troop C when it was located in Franklin.


He is survived by his sister, Blanche Boudreaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Sr. and Virginia Haydel; brothers, Hilton, Oren, Hardy, Rufus, Sitges, Edsel and Emile Jr. Haydel; and sisters, Ada Cobb and Virginia Senette.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Church of the Assumption with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Jeanerette, La. (Ibert’s)
