John Roy Theriot, 73, a native of Theriot, La. and resident of Bayou DuLarge, La., died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #8779 and Extraordinary Minister of Communion at St. Eloi Catholic Church. He was a local artist and a member of the New Orleans Art Association.


Mr. Theriot is survived by his wife, Germaine Theriot; son, Ward Theriot (fiancee’ Monique Porche); daughters, Adele Fulcher (companion Maximillion “Jay” Acosta), Andrea (Brent) Rodrigue, Annette (Richard) Burgo and Karen (Stuart) Smith; brothers, Herbert (Vivian) Theriot, Elton (Diana) Theriot, Carroll (Tennie) Theriot and Patrick (Patricia) Theriot; sisters, Cecile Evans and Lydia Champagne; sisters-in-law, Kim Theriot and Yvonne Hebert; 16 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family requests that contributions be made in memory of Roy to Catholic Charities for the St. Louis Infant Center.

Visitation will be held today from 9 – 11 a.m. at St. Eloi Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Eloi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at a later date at St. Eloi Catholic Church Cemetery.
