Johnson J. Chouest, 78, a native and resident of Galliano, La., died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011.

Mr. Chouest held the rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army while serving in the Korean War. He loved spoiling his wife and spending quality time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cutting grass and outdoor living.


He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rema Chouest; sons, Johnson and John Chouest; daughters, Belinda (Gilbert Sr.) St. Pierre and Germaine (Crawford Sr.) Williams; brother, Kenneth (Pat) Chouest; sister, Helen (Woodrow) Pierce; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elephege and Natalie Chouest; sister, Audrey Chouest; and granddaughter, Reba Sanders.

Burial was at Cheramie Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
