Joseph “Bolo” Ivy Dean Sr., 79, a native and resident of Dulac, La. died Monday, October 22, 2007, at 6:15 a.m.

He is survived by five sons, Joseph LeRoy Dean and his wife Emelda, Joseph Ivy Dean, Jr. and his wife Martha, Paul Jessie Dion and his wife Lena, Joseph Roy Dean and his wife Sara, and Paul Jerry Dion and his wife Rosetta; one daughter, Mary Verret and her husband Cyrus Dean; one brother, John Norris Dean; two stepbrothers, Joe Dean and Ross Dean; two sisters, Wilda Verdin and Anna Mae Gregoire; one stepsister, Rose Pierre; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Geges” Verdin Dean; his parents, Clarence and Eva Mae Fazzio Dean; one daughter, Ouida Dean; and one brother, Wilbert Dean.

Joseph was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a retired fisherman.

Visitation is Wednesday, October 24, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Holy Family Catholic Church. He will be buried in the church cemetery.
