Joseph Duet, 82, a native of Cut Off, La., and a resident of Golden Meadow, La., died at 5 a.m. Friday, May 23.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Earline Williams Duet; daughters, Paula D. Morgan and husband, V.J. Morgan, and Karen D. Samples and husband Mike Samples; grandchildren, Curtis Morgan, Ian Schouest, Lee Samples and Aimee Nunnally and husband Clay; and great-grandchildren, Parker Nunnally, Peyton Nunnally and Shae Schouest.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis L. Duet and Edna Adams Duet; brother, Louis Duet Sr.; and sisters, Rena Neck and Mabel Melancon.

He was U.S. Marine during World War II. He was belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 9000, the Holy Name Society, Our Lady Helps Ministry and American Legion Post 259. He was a retired employee of Exxon and a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.

The Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off is in charge of the arrangements.
