Joseph Calvin “J.C.” Ortego, 67, a native of Houma, La., and resident of Patterson, La., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Ortego made his living in the oilfield industry.
He is survived by his wife, Charmaine Ortego; son, Richard Ortego; daughter and care-giver, Bethany (Jason) Jones; daughter, Cori (Jeff) DePrato; five grandchildren; father and stepmother, Calvin and Ann Ortego; sister, Paula Greaud; and brothers, Rick, Dean and Mike Ortego.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Berna Ortego.
“In lieu of a funeral, his final wish was that his body be donated to Tulane University in hopes that someday a cure for cancer may be found.”
