Josephine Bourg Junot, 93, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, June 15, 2014.


Mrs. Junot graduated from St. Francis de Sales Academy in 1938. She was salutatorian of her class and was awarded the American Legion Medal. She attended USL where she majored in education. She was a past President and Charter Member of the Theresians (Anawins). She received the Archbishop’s Medal for her dedication and work for the Catholic Church from Archbishop Philip Hannan and the Bishop’s medal from Bishop Warren Boudreaux. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.

She is survived by her children, Josephine Richard, Hewitt, Dr. Mary, Patrick and Joseph Junot and Elizabeth Robichaux; sister, Nellie Giblaint; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hewitt Junot; parents, Francis and Josephine Bourg; sisters, Augustine Taylor and Beulah Toups; brothers, Robert, Frances, Lawrence and Bennie Bourg; and three grandchildren.


Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
