Jules Folse, 79, a native of Raceland, La., and a resident of Mathews, La., died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at 12:50 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Folse; four sons, Gerard Folse and his wife Janet, Ferrel Folse and his wife Marlene, Bryan Folse and his wife Karen, and Kurt Folse; five daughters, Glorietta Chaisson and her husband Douglas, Maureen Foret and her husband Ronald, Madonna Eschette and her husband Weldon, Monica Hoffpauir and her husband Doug, and Angela Falgout and her husband Frankie; one brother, Guy Folse; three sisters, Irene Hohensee, Geneyieve “Mickey” Acosta, and Sophie Breaux; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Anita Folse.

Jules was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church. He was a loving husband to his wife Shirley for 59 years. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the founder and owner of Jules Cleaners for 55 years, a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus for 52 years, and the AARP. He was also a lector and commentator for his church.

Visitation is Tuesday, September 11, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday, September 12, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport, with the funeral to follow at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Mathews. He will be buried in Resurrection Memorial Park in Mathews.

Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport is in charge of the arrangements.
