January 27, 2012Julia C. Vegas, 88, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and resident of Cut Off, La., died at 11:56 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012.
Mrs. Vegas was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She loved her family, dancing, playing bingo and poker keno.
She is survived by her son, Kenry Sr. (Wendy) Vegas; daughter, Amery (Alcess) Chauvin; brothers, Clivington and Clinton Callais; sister, Barbara Barrett; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tilman Vegas Sr.; parents, Anderson and Viola Callais; son, Tilman Vegas, Jr.; brothers, Theophila, Anderson, Lindy and Linton Callais; sisters, Irene and Lucy Callais, Earlia Guidry and Trina Boudreaux; and grandson, Heath Vegas.
Burial was at Cheramie Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
