Kenneth “Canoe” John Domangue Sr., 68, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 5:20 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011.


Mr. Domangue worked for Texaco for 34 years until his retirement. He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during peacetime. He attended LSU where he received his standard firemen’s training. He was a fireman for the Houma Fire Company. He graduated from St. Francis de Sales boy’s school in 1961 and excelled in football and baseball. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and after he retired he became an avid golfer. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Theriot Domangue; son, Kenneth (Leslie) Domangue Jr.; daughters, Kayla (Eric) Landry, Kathy (Keith) Mazarac and Kami (Brandon) Babin; seven grandchildren, Kenneth III and Alexander Domangue, Brendan Landry, Kameron and Keith Jr. Mazarac and Emma and Brant Babin; brothers, Daniel, Barry and Kern Domangue; and sister, June LeCompte.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Josephine Samaha Domangue.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
