Lawrence Marks, 78, a native of Arnaudville, La., and resident of Bayou Vista, La., died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010.

Mr. Marks was a marine and a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he earned a purple heart in the service of his country. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and a volunteer driver of the VA bus for many years. He enjoyed riding his bike, reading, grilling for family and friends, going to his camp and attending all weddings to which he was invited. He had a friend everywhere he went.


He is survived by his wife, Rita Hollier Marks; daughter, Peggy (Jody Sr.) Dinger; sons: Randal (Heidi) Marks, Dean Sr. and Lawrence David Marks; six grandchildren, Kristi Marks Pinho, Erica Marks Oncale, Dean Marks Jr., Jody Dinger Jr., Joshua Marks and Gaige Marks; six great-grandchildren; brother, Emery Marks; and sister, Mina Marks.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Onezime and Jeanne Olivier Marks; three sisters, Maude Champagne, Mildred Ritchie and Dora Marks; and one brother, Onezime Marks Jr.

He is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.

His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the DAV P.O. Box 2071 Houma, La. 70360.
