Lee Roy Dantin, 80, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and resident of Baton Rouge, La., died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Dantin served in the Korean War first Marine Division and was honorably discharged as a hospitalman third class. He earned a master’s degree in education from Nicholls State University, and taught French and distributive education at South Lafourche High School.


He is survived by sons, Ched (Anne) and Thomas (Elizabeth) Dantin; daughter, Monique (Ron) Gorham; son-in-law, Jude Guidry; brothers, L.J. (Earline) and Terry (Hazel) Dantin; sisters, Rosianna (Mims) Lee and Sophie Langlinas; grandchildren, Thad, Tricia and Taryn Guidry, Taylor Gorham, Samantha, Zachary and Claire Dantin, Reece, Amy and Leah Dantin; and his companion, Elaine Burgess.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Anatole Ludovic and Oscalie Terrebonne Dantin; wife, Eloise Callahan Dantin; and daughter, Michele Guidry.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

He will be buried at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Veterans Memorial in Galliano are appreciated.
