Lenias Joseph Dupre, 93, a native and lifelong resident of Pointe-aux-Chenes, La., died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010.


He is survived by his son, Richard (Elvira) Dupre of Pointe-aux-Chenes; daughter, Martha Raye (Mac Knupp) Dupre of Schriever; brothers, Freddie (Rose) of Marrero and Emery (Shirley) Dupre of Grand Caillou; stepsister, Mary Lee Trahan Dupre of Mississippi; grandchildren, Marcia (Louis “Rosebud” Jr.) Ellender, Thomas (Cheryl) Trosclair, Melissa (Artie) Rogers, Nina (Ricky) Billiot and Drake (Rhonda) Dupre; companion, Margaret Ellender; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Cedonia Dupre Dupre; parents, Andre and Julia Neil Dupre, and stepmother, Clara Rodrigue Dupre Trahan; brothers, Leroy, Alcee and Paul “Tit” Claude Dupre; sisters, Cynthia and Emily Dupre, Dorina Jervis, Delma Smith and Agnes Rodrigue.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Samart Funeral Home in Houma, and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Pointe-aux-Chenes. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Dupre will be buried at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Pointe-aux-Chenes.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
