He was the beloved and cherished husband of Patsy Kelley Powell of Thibodaux; the adored father of Steven Kelley Powell of Thibodaux and John Len Powell of Gonzales, La.; proud grandfather of Trevor, Tanner and Taylor Powell, all of Thibodaux; he loved his daughters-in-law Denise and Bernadette as though they were his own daughters; he cherished his brother-in-law, Billy Kelley and wife, Sue, and his sister-in-law, Audrey Powell as family along with sister-in-law Janet, and husband, Robert DesJardins, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; he was the dear uncle of Nancy Gill, Chris Powell, Robert Powell and Kari Kirby, all of Jackson, Al., and Brian Kelley of San Diego, Ca., Andrea Andraschko of Anchorage, Ak., and Bill Des Jardins of Burlington, Vt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Snowden and Maude Jones Powell; and brother, Robert Carey Powell.

He was a native of Malcolm where he was ordained to the Gospel Ministry at the age of 18 after graduating from Citronelle High School.
