Levy “Captain Vie” Brunet, Sr., 88, a native and resident of Galliano, La., died Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at 3:52 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Bella Pitre Brunet; three sons, Elton “Ko Ko” Brunet and his wife Ena, Levy “L.J.” Brunet, Jr., and his wife Reba, and Pastor Dennis Brunet and his wife Rebekah; one daughter, Linda Brunet; 14 grandchildren, Duane Brunet and his wife Amy, Monique Pitre and her husband Jody, Cherise Swander and her husband Stephen; Ron Brunet and his wife Desiree, Dawn Orgeron and her husband Trent, Angela Mott and her husband Gareth, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ethan, Sarah, Lydiah, Micah, Leah Beth, and Issac Brunet; and 11 great-grandchildren, Katie Brunet, Allie Brunet, Gavin Pitre, Grant Pitre, Caroline Pitre, Stephen David, Camille Swander, Andrea Brunet, Carson Orgeron, Isabella Mott and Emelie Mott.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Loviney and Emelie Guidry Brunet; one son, Teddy “Boy” Brunet; four brothers, Elphege Brunet, Sr., Widless “Bee” Brunet, Valcour Brunet, and Clorise Brunet; and six sisters, Ida Broussard, Alfacia Allemand, Tine Abadie, Naza Nash, Daisy Stiller, and Augusta Aucoin.

Levy was a shrimp trawler, trapper, farmer, and hunter. He loved the outdoors.

Visitation is Friday, October 5, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off, La., and Saturday, October 6, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Community Bible Church in Cut Off. He will be buried in Cheramie Cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
