Lillie Mae Rodrigue Daigle McElroy, a resident of Houma, La., entered into God’s kingdom of eternal rest June 27.

“Lil” was born in Smoke Bend, La., on August 26, 1918 to her parents, the late Raymond Joseph and Marie Emilie Sanchez Rodrigue. “Lil” was raised by her Dad and stepmother, Adele Daigle Rodrigue after the death of her young mother.


She is survived by her three sons, Sam. J. Daigle and wife Barbara LeBlanc, Kenneth P. Daigle and wife Brenda Ganaway, and Ronald J. Daigle all of Houma; one daughter, Dana Jo Daigle Bailey of Homer, La.; 11 grandchildren, Helen, Dawn, Joe, April, Tonya, Jamie, Kerry, Rhonda, Cory, Matthew and Rebecca; and 15 grandchildren. Lil was also the step-mother of Juanita, Victor, Mary and Gloria all of Houma and Maxie of Hammond, La. Lil also had 11 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Lil is also survived by two brothers, Howard and Henry Rodrigue of Houma; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.


She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Joseph Noel Daigle; her second husband, Victor Joseph McElroy; her parents, Raymond, Emilie and Adele; and two brothers, Eugene and Russell Rodrigue.

Lil leaves a legacy of unconditional love and a wealth of happy memories. Her zest for life and perfection will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation and funeral services will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 110 Rosary St, Houma, June 30 with mass at 11 a.m. She will be buried at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
