Lita Rita LeCompte, 89, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
Mrs. LeCompte enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved her flowers. She will be remembered as the snowball lady on Gum Street and for selling her handmade baby clothes and quilts at Southdown Marketplace. She loved to spoil her grandchildren. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Patsy) and Dennis (Sarah) LeCompte, Meridy (Randy) Liner and Nettie (David) Prejean; brother, Curtis Hebert; sister, Iris Blevons; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul LeCompte; parents, August and Effie Hebert; son, Paul LeCompte; and daughter, Evelyn Autin.
Visitation will be 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Interment will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
