Lolita Hanley DeFelice, 92, a native of Lockport, La., and a lifelong resident of Raceland, La., was called to be with her Heavenly Father March 4 at 9:10 a.m.


She is survived by her son, Dave J. DeFelice Jr. and wife Mona of Raceland; brother, Dr. Robert Hanley and wife Joanna of Lockport; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dave J. DeFelice Sr.; parents, John P. Hanley Sr. and Anna Fleming Hanley; brother, John P. Hanley Jr.; sister, Maud Kringle of West Palm Beach, Fl.; Dr. Fleming Hanley of Palm Beach, Dr. Patrick Hanley of New Orleans, La., William Hanley of Baton Rouge, La., Lawrence Hanley, Lionel Hanley, Anna Bourgeois of Lockport and Alice Miller of Golden Meadow, La.


The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Lafourche Parish Education Foundation in care of Dave DeFelice, PO Box 95, Raceland, La., 70394.

She was a retired public school teacher with the Lafourche Parish school system. She was very active in the community and was selected Family of the Year and Woman of the Year. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, Raceland Woman’s Club, U.S.L. Alumni, Ladies Altar Society. V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Lafourche Parish Teachers’ Association, Louisiana Retired Teachers’ Association, L.S.U. Foundation and a parishioner of St. Mary Nativity Church. She was also a lifelong fan and supporter of LSU.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at St. Hilary Church with a funeral mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Nativity Cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
