Loraine Callahan Fields, 88, a life long resident of Morgan City, La., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Morgan City Health Care Center.

Loraine is survived by three daughters, Sheila McFarland of Morgan City, Andrea Pyle and husband Thomas of Denham Springs, La., and Paula Ford of Independence, La.; one son, Dennis J. Fields and wife Lady of Denham Springs; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eugenia Callahan; her husband of 65 years, Tilden J. Fields; one son, Mark W. Fields; two grandchildren, T. Jay Pyle and Hope Sands; three brothers; and one sister.

Loraine loved her family, her faith, her many flowers and food. She loved to cook, almost as much as she loved to eat seafood, especially crabs. She was mama or grandma to any and all who needed one. Anytime you came into her home she’d have anywhere between 6 and 13 vases of fresh flowers from her yard. She was tenderhearted and loving and will be sadly missed by all whose lives she has touched in her 88 years on this earth.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Lorraine will be laid to rest at the Morgan City Mausoleum.

Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
