Louis John Verdun, 93, a native of Raceland, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012.

Mr. Verdun was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he received a Purple Heart. He was a past member of the VFW, DAV and American Legion. He was the original partner of L&N Grocery, owner of V7’s Oasis Restaurant and original partner of Grand Bayou Mobile Home Park.


He is survived by his sons, Louis Jr. (Virginia), Glenn (Eva), Bruce (Angie), Gary (Judy), Wayne (Cindy), David (Laura) and Perry (Kay) Verdun; daughter, Wanda (Keith) LeBlanc; brothers, Nelson and Oscar Verdun; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

Burial was at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral Cemetery. (Thibodaux)
