Loy “Sue” Williams, 69, a native of Little Blue, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.

Despite battling a lengthy illness, Mrs. Williams always had a sunny disposition and a spirit that could never be defeated. Over the years she touched many hearts as an active volunteer for numerous schools as a PTA volunteer, tutor and a mentor. Sue was also a member of many other community organizations including the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Sue’s favorite recreations were spending time on the boat, fishing and cheering for her favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds. Animals always held a special place in her heart. Above all, her children, grandchildren, and family were always her first priority. Her motherly spirit was apparent and shared by all the neighborhood children who loved spending time visiting “Miss Sue.”

She is survived by her husband, William “Henry” Williams Jr.; daughters, Bobbie Sue Williams, Kathy Brashear, Sandra Bentley and Theresa Kokesh; sons, Michael, Richard, Andrew, Bryon and Wayne Williams; 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Ray Carpenter; and sister, Sherry Lynn Carey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Carpenter and Evelyn Loydis Smith-Carpenter; brother, Ronnie Ree Carpenter; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Brittany Williams.
