Mabel Wenger Hackman, 93, a native of Middlebury, Ind., and resident of Des Allemands, La., died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at 8:30 a.m.


She is survived by three sons, Gordon L. Hackman and wife, Marion, Robert D. Hackman and wife, Kathy, and Lester M. Hackman Jr. and wife, Ruby; two daughters, Polly Duhe’ and husband, Lenny, and Frances Wood and husband, Rob; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Moyer Hackman Sr.; her parents, Chester and Salome C. Wenger; two brothers, the Rev. John C. Wenger and William Wenger; and one sister, Estelle Callender.

She was a member of Des Allemands Mennonite Church.

Visitation is Monday, October 1, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 2, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Des Allemands Mennonite Church. She will be buried in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mennonite Church.
